Moving On...

Yesterday I took a day out from writing to transfer thoughts from the time travel male/male to the dragon shape-shifters of today. Air conditioning…check. Grandma delivered to appointments…check. Furniture moved from downstairs to upstairs and upstairs furniture taken downstairs…check. Dog washed, kid’s birthday celebrated, Twilight watched…check, check, check. Bedroom cleaned…well kinda. Well not really. Will get back to that today. I always play catch up after I finish a book. Doing the house details instead of just the essentials. I fit in some of them yesterdays. Others will have to wait another week.

Man, I was tired last night. Went to bed at 9:30 and missed all of Mia’s harassing emails. Love you Mia-nator. Wasn’t ignoring you. I slept like a rock. My husband reports trying to attack me and he didn’t even get an unconscious bat away. I was totally dead gone.

So today, I’m on to dragons today. I’ve always been intrigued by dragons so these stories are special to me. I get to combine three of my favorite genres into a series. Yes, I’m being slightly cryptic, but I’ll be more forthcoming come August 1.

Dragons needed a new soundtrack so here it is:

Super Massive Blackhole – Muse
Leave Out all the Rest – Linkin Park
Carry On My Wayward Son – Kansas
Dragostea Din Tei – Ozone
This Years Love – David Gray
Lullaby – Dixie Chicks
You Belong to Me – Jason Wade
Hallelujah – Rufus Wainwright
Hallelujah – Kate Voegele
Hallelujah – Damien Rice
Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley
Hum Hallelujah – Fall Out Boy
Losing My Religion – REM
Melt With You – The Early Republic
Ring of Fire – Adam Lambert
Rockstar – Nickelback
New Classic – Drew Seeley
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs – Fall Out Boy
Requiem (The Fifth) – Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Beethoven

This might be the perfect mix…

Talking to Myself

Good morning. Gosh it’s ungodly early considering I went to bed at about 2 AM. I had to. Why? I was on a writing role. 7000 words in one day—well actually 6968, but I think that’s close enough to 7K to call it 7K. I would have done that 32 words, but there was no more to say. The book was done. Yep. Over. Fini. Complete. Happily ever after.

I never did start the air condition—though it got HOT yesterday—or move the furniture. Just typed until the fingers could type no more. About 1 AM my pinkie finger was numb, as were the finger pads of the middle three fingers on each hand. Heh, not gonna let a little numbness stop me.

So today, I’ll move on with the other book I’ve been writing. Hopefully I can call that one over by next week. It’s unlikely 7K will happen in it today. Too much running and it’s my oldest son’s birthday. There will be cake baking and presenting today and perhaps grilling if we don’t end up with a storm, but that storm looks really promising right now.

Hmm…must avoid lightning. Good plan for the day.

Forgot My Tiara Again

I’ve had several interesting comments to me in the last few days that kinda amazed me. They were all along the same vein: How normal I am. Okay, I’m perplexed. I’ve never envisioned myself as anything other than normal and down to earth. I certainly don’t feel I have a platform to be snooty or holier than thou. It makes me think of actors and all the hero worship we give them. They have a job they do but I bet a whole lot of them are just ordinary down to earth people. Hmm… need to think on this some more.

Changing directions: Have you ever read a book or watched a movie and come away feeling like a big chunk is missing from here to there in order to get to the ending. I mean, sometimes there can be an elapsed gap of time but there’s wrap up of the missing time in the beginning of the scene after the gap. I watched a movie yesterday that left me frowning. Overall it was great, but there was a big gap between the body of action and the last scene. I wanted to yell “but how did you get from here to there?” It kinda destroyed an otherwise good movie for me. Since I don’t take time out to watch movies very often, it was a disappointment.

It looks like it’s going to be a steamy one here in Michigan today. It’s time for the air conditioning. We’re also rearranging furniture today. My husband will come home and wonder what happened. That’s always fun.

A tack-on

This is a tack-on to Mia's post for those who are interested in more, um, visual aids. If you haven't read Mia's blog posts this week, go now. They're fun and interesting and very Mia-ly irreverent. Go have fun. Encourage certain boys to contact her or at least post comments. I'd be interested in hearing from any of the four.

In other news, I've almost finished my manuscript despite extreme distraction. Truthfully, these pics have been a bit of an inspiration too, though the story does not in anyway revolve around a guy kissing a random guy in a club. My two guys are completely gay and know it thank you very much. But you know how author brain works. Always in what-if mode. I can look at a picture of anything and give it a story. Good thing, too. I need to complete this book over the weekend. I may be scarce on loops and blogs until then.

A soon as I'm done with this story, I'm completing my next shape-shifter book. I'm afraid I've left them hanging -- mid-flight. They must be tired by now.

If the distractions continue, they might be even more tired. I've been indulging in a bit of my other distractions this week: Twilight, Twilight, Robert Pattinson, Twilight, Getting ready for Carol Lynne's reader/writer get-together, Twilight, Music (I've discovered I REALLY like Fall Out Boy), Pete Wentz. The list of current distractions goes on and on. But today I'll focus.

Well I'm off, Thnks Fr Th Mmrs.
