Okay, now on to my house fairy…
A few weeks ago, I did an article for Total-e-bound about my muses/fairies. They are completely different from the fairy I am talking about today. Okay, so people who know me, know I have an odd sense of humour. Who else do you know who has a skeleton decked out for Christmas on their wall for the holidays? Anyway, I have a house fairy. The fabled entity supposedly cleans my house. Not well. I end up doing most of the cleaning around here myself. But take a look at him…doesn’t he look disgruntled? I’m guessing it’s because my bomb squad Barbie stole his clothes while I was writing my bomb squad book—it’s not finished yet so don’t ask, lol. He’s been ticked ever since.
Okay, seriously, my house is spotless right now…well except for the bedrooms, but that’s another matter. Doors close for a reason. But everything else. Very clean. This is in direct relation to my well-being. I noticed last night that for the last week, I’ve been completely back in balance. The cleanliness of my house is in direct relationship to this. I’m not in balance because I’m all neat and organized…the organization and dust-free fixtures are only a sign. I’m eating well, drinking water instead of just coffee, finding time to exercise, and getting things done—not just for work, but personally as well. I like it. It’s part of the pact I made with myself earlier this month—not a New Year’s resolution, just a determination to stop overloading in one area of my life while ignoring everything else. Other than about a half hour yesterday, I actually took the day off. I did no work. I played. I cooked (I like to cook). I relaxed and (OMG) read a book. For pleasure. Not to sound all new age-y, but it feels good.
Speaking of pleasure…I started a new book for Ellora’s Cave, which I mentioned a few days ago. I’m so excited to be working on it and it’s going great. It will be either a quickie or a novella, but I won’t know until I’m done with it. It might even be a short novel. I try not to limit myself like that unless I’m writing for a specific line. I’ll update as I go along.
